14 year old Owen Katende was a star in guiding his side Nansana Aska to win Lubaga Grameen 5-2 in 2024-2025 the Futsal Super League opening game.
The youngster on his second appearance started by making three fantastic saves in the early stage of the game played at Old Kampala Futsal Arena on 8 November 2024.
Later his team Nansana Aska got in lead through Muhammad Walusimbi who bagged a brace and Jacob Opio Swaib Kazibwe Isa Kisule all added.
At Half time Aska led the game 4-0 and extended the lead on second as adding another two saves.
At the stage where it most seem for the young to keep a cleansheet, the dream got killed when the 2022-2023 won two penalties and captain Bruno Ssegirinya was present to convert both.
Following the full time whistle with Aska winning 5-2, the St Mirriam High school senior one student who always under the escort of schools games teach Paul Isabirye commented on his performance
“I happy that today I have played and won” he said
“I appreciate my team mates for the support they have lendered me, they mean alot to my performance today” he continued
Adding and concluding that; “The last time I was shaky because I was brought into the side with less training but today the training is been good enough and i have improved”
It was long day with 6 fixtures which saw Defending Champions Park FC beating Mengo City 7-1 as Abas Muluuya Junior puting up a star performance netting a hattrick.
Shafick Mulangira and Michael Abura was also on score sheet.
Kisenyi also Managed to overcome new entrants QC Mbarara by 7-5 as Ellyas Omran standing as top star of the day with a quadrat,
Lubiri Crown also beaten Kisugu 5-3 with the new side found inspiration in Muhammad Hassan who bagged a hat-trick.
In another new comers affairs Kabuusu Clouds stood far better than Busunju Sparks recording 8-1 win with Gaddafi Bazanyanengo betting 4.
Kabowa dream team was the only team to keep a cleansheet over Edgars youth programme in 3-0 game.
The League is scheduled to return on 15th November with six (6) fixtures but there is also an expectation of postponement is on the same day since Uganda Cranes will be taking on South Africa in AFCON Qualifiers.
