Aziz Damani beats Ceylon Lions to win UCA Super Cup

National Men’s Division 1 champions Aziz Damani CC defeated Ceylon Lions CC by 97 runs to the win the 2022 Uganda Cricket Association Super Cup on Saturday evening.

In a game played at Lugogo Cricket Oval, Kenneth Waiswa scored an unbeaten 62 off 30 runs and Simon Ssesazi added 41 for Damani, who posted 191/4 in 20 overs.

Rogers Mukasa and Riazat Ali Shah added 35 and 32 runs respectively for Damani, who had Fred Achelam caught out first in the 4th over.

Shazahd Jamal scored 26 off 34 for the Ceylon Lions who finished the game with 94/6 in 20 overs.

After T20 Super Cup game, the prize giving ceremony that has been pending for the last two years was held and Aziz Damani were awarded their men’s division 1 trophy which was accompanied with Five million Uganda shillings (UGX 5M) as a cash prize.

Last season’s runners-up got three million Ugandan shillings (UGX 3M), same like the 2019 Division 2 champions Ceylon lions CC.

The 2022 National Men’s 50-over Cricket league will begin on Sunday as Wanderers face SKLPS in the opener at the Entebbe Oval.
