The 2025 Masaza Cup semi-finals delivered a feast of football for the visiting teams on Sunday, as Kyaggwe and Ssingo stunned their hosts to claim hard-fought victories in the first leg encounters.

In two tense and tactical battles, Kyaggwe earned a crucial 1-0 away win over Buweekula, while Ssingo came from behind to edge Bugerere 2-1 in Ntenjeru.

At the Mubende National Training College Grounds, Buweekula and Kyaggwe engaged in a fierce midfield contest that saw the first half end goalless. The breakthrough finally arrived after the restart when Geofrey Ssenyonga fired home the decisive goal — a strike that not only sealed the win but also earned him the Man of the Match award.

Despite Buweekula’s late surge in search of an equalizer, Kyaggwe’s defense stood resolute, ensuring they left Mubende with both a numerical and psychological advantage ahead of the second leg.

What a spectacle from the players and fans here in Mubende today,” remarked Kenneth Amanyire, Pilsner King Marketing Representative for Mubende, who attended the fixture.

The first leg is done, but the pressure remains high with just a goal separating both ties. We encourage fans to turn up for the final push to the grand finale. As Pilsner King, we can’t wait to see which team claims the 2025 Masaza Cup crown.”

Meanwhile, in Ntenjeru, Bugerere took an early lead through Henry Wamala, but Ssingo hit back swiftly with a Shaban Kayondo equalizer before halftime.

The decisive moment came in the 53rd minute when Bugerere’s Osman Mayanja missed a penalty — a costly miss that Ssingo capitalized on moments later. Ismael Rwimitala struck the winner, earning both the victory and the Man of the Match accolade.

With the ties delicately balanced, the second leg on 19th October promises more drama as all four semi-finalists remain in contention for Masaza glory. The road to the Ham Stadium final is far from over — who will rise to the occasion and book their place in the 2025 showpiece?
