On Sunday afternoon a Team of six Ugandan shuttlers was flagged off to Mauritius at Sharing Hall Nsambya by their Vice Chairperson Hajji Muhammed Serugo.
The team later that night flew out of the country to represent Uganda at the Inaugural Africa AirBadminton Championships that is set to shuttle off on 14th November and climax on 17th.
The William Kabindi coached side included Mustafa Lubega, Olivia Nakajja, Malha Musa, Sharifah Mbabazi, Kadoli Fred and Captain Augustus Owinyi.
Before the team left Touchline Sports had a chat with Owinyi who explained the game and Inaugural Championship in summary;

“AirBadminton, it differs from the Normal one, you will have three players on the court” he started
“The game is played outdoor and designed to create opportunities for people of all ages” he continued
Adding that; “The nature of court is different it can be played badminton on hard, grass and sand surfaces in parks, gardens, streets, playgrounds and beaches around the world.”
“Just like the laws and everything about it however we are set to put out a strong performance”
On the preparation bit, Owinyi concluded by saying;
“This is the inaugural Championship so as the team Captain I would us to make history”
“We are prepared for this, the coach managed to take us through it all” he concluded
