Young Africans midfielder Khalid Aucho will be Uganda Cranes captain when Micho’s side play Rwanda next week in the 2022 FIFA World Cup qualifiers double-header games.
This was confirmed by the Uganda Cranes head coach Milutin Sredojevic during the weekly KFM Sports radio show.
“We have already made up our mind, Khalid Aucho will be the captain and will be assisted by Denis Iguma” Micho said after being asked who could be captain for the upcoming games after Emmanuel Okwi’s exclusion.
Okwi was not summoned to the 33-man squad by the Serbian due to the fact the 28-year old lacked an affiliation to any football club.
Aucho took up the armband in both the previous World Cup games against Kenya and Mali when Okwi was substituted so this comes as no surprise based on the Young African midfielder seniority and longevity with the national team.
Uganda is currently third in group E with two points from as many games after goalless draw against Kenya and Mali
Uganda will travel to Kigali to verse Rwanda on 7th October before returning home on 10th October for the return leg.
