The Finance Trust Bank FUFA Women Super League and Elite League Monthly Awards for February were unveiled in a grand ceremony at Twed Plaza on March 27, 2025.
The event, held at the headquarters of league sponsors Finance Trust Bank, recognized the best performers of the month, including players, coaches, and, for the first time, journalists covering women’s football.
For the second consecutive month, Kampala Queens head coach Asefa Firew Haile Gabreal was crowned the best coach in the Finance Trust Bank FUFA Women Super League.
The Ethiopian tactician edged out Uganda Martyrs head coach Edward Kasozi and Olila HS WFC coach Ronald Eletu to retain his title.
Asefa’s success was built on an impeccable February campaign, where he led Kampala Queens to three straight victories without conceding a single goal.
His team’s defensive solidity and attacking efficiency made them the standout side of the month.
“I’m grateful to be named coach of the month again,” Asefa said. “This award is not just for me, but for the entire team. It means we’re on the right track, and we know there’s still more to improve every day.”
In the players’ category, Olila HS WFC’s Dorcus Lwalisa claimed the best player award. Her two goals in three matches were enough to outshine Kampala Queens’ Peace Muduwa and Uganda Martyrs’ captain Latifah Nakasi.
This was Lwalisa’s first-ever monthly accolade, a testament to her rising influence in the league.
The Finance Trust Bank FUFA Women Elite League also had its winners, with Asubo Ladies FC head coach Swaleh Kamya taking home the best coach award after guiding his team to three victories in three games.
Meanwhile, Asubo Ladies goalkeeper Lillian Nakirya was named the best player for keeping two clean sheets in two matches.
For the first time, the awards recognized journalists who have significantly contributed to the promotion of women’s football.
Geoffrey Mugabi of Sports Nation Uganda and Makhtum Muziransa of Daily Monitor shared the inaugural best journalist award for their outstanding coverage of the game throughout February.
