APR (Armee Patriotique Rwandaise) Volleyball Club delivered a dominant performance at the CAVB Zone V Club Championship, with both their men’s and women’s teams clinching victory at the Lugogo Indoor Arena in Kampala.

APR Women Edge Defending Champions Kenya Pipeline

The women’s final saw APR take on Kenya Pipeline Volleyball Club (KPC), the defending champions. KPC started strong, taking the first set 25-20 as APR struggled with defensive errors.

However, APR quickly regrouped, turning the tide in the second set with improved blocking and service play to win 25-17.

The third set was a tense battle, with both sides pushing hard. KPC reached set point first, but APR fought back to win 26-24, giving them a crucial 2-1 lead.

The fourth set was another nail-biter, but APR held their nerve, sealing the match 25-23 after capitalizing on KPC’s miscommunication. Sarah Lamito’s final attack secured APR’s championship victory.

APR Men Triumph in All-Rwanda Final

The men’s final was a Rwanda Derby, with APR facing Rwanda National Police.

The opening set was fiercely contested, with Police initially leading. However, APR fought back to win 26-24, despite Police’s relentless attacking.

Police responded in the second set, winning 25-19 after reducing errors and tightening their defense.

APR, however, took control in the third set, winning 25-18, before sealing the championship with a dominant 25-21 victory in the fourth set.

Their double victory highlights Rwanda’s growing dominance in volleyball, backed by government investment in sports infrastructure and professionalization.
