The towering youngster was instrumental in Lugazi FC’s promotion race last season, showcasing his versatility under various coaches.

In an exclusive interview, Solomon Akodi discussed his career, his expectations for the SUPL, and his future ambitions.

Like many promising African talents, Akodi dreams of European football.

Despite his youth, he has gained significant experience playing for Ndejje University, Calvary Midigo, and most recently, Lugazi FC in the BetPawa Big League.

Akodi has established himself as a versatile player, excelling in central defense, defensive midfield, and even as an attacking midfielder.

Known for his calm presence on the ball, defensive solidity, and teamwork, he has become indispensable to his coaches.

The upcoming season in the top flight is set to be the most defining challenge for this emerging talent.

Akodi is confident in his ability to meet the demands of top-flight football, emphasizing grit, experience, and unparalleled skills.

Despite his shy demeanor, Akodi is a warrior on the field, a fact not lost on his coaches.

The acquisition of veteran defender Savio Kabugo threatened his starting position, but coach Richard Makumbi continued to utilize Akodi in various roles.

The Super League players have the same blood as us and breathe the same air.

Once I remind myself of this, I know I can outcompete them.

We’ve faced former SUPL players in the Big League and overcome them, so there’s nothing to fear.

If my dream is to play in Europe’s top leagues, these challenges will prepare me and my teammates,

Akodi asserted

Lugazi FC finished second behind Police FC, earning promotion alongside Mbale Heroes.

The club is actively strengthening its squad, bringing in players like Ian Amanya, Obua Emmanuel, Nelson Mandela, Denis Lubowa, Sharif Saaka, and Rogers Adriko.

Former Crested Cranes star Oliver Mbekeka has joined as assistant coach to Sadick Ssempigi.

As the new season approaches, Lugazi FC has resumed full training and scheduled an international friendly with Kenya’s Tusker FC on August 10th.

Last season, new league entrants Kitara and NEC exceeded expectations, setting a high bar for this season’s newcomers.
