The quarter-finalists for this year’s African Cup of Nations have been confirmed.
They are: Senegal, Morocco, Egypt, Equator Guinea, Gambia, Cameroon and Burkina Faso.
The hosts, Cameroon booked their place on Monday, following a 2-1 victory over dilapidated Comoros at Olembe Stadium in Douala, while Burkina Faso overcame Gabon 7-6 in penalties after a 1-1 stalemate at Extra time.
Tunisia eliminated favorites Nigeria courtesy of Yunus Msakni strike while Gambia just edged past Guinea.
On Tuesday, Senegal beat Cape Verde 2-0, Morocco came from behind to see off Malawi 2-1, while the two games on Wednesday ended after shootouts.
Mohammad Salah netted the decisive spotkick as Egypt eliminated Ivory Coast while Equatorial Guinea dumped Mali out of the competition following a 6-5 victory.
In the quarters, Gambia will play hosts, Cameroon while Burkina Faso will take on Tunisia. Both these games will be played on Saturday 29th January.
On Sunday, it will be a North African derby as record champions Egypt plays Morocco while Senegal will battle with Equatorial Guinea for a place in the next round.
