The prestigious Captain’s Bell Golf Tournament is back with renewed vigor and a record UGX 179 million sponsorship from Absa Bank Uganda.

Set to take place from 15 to 17 May at the Uganda Golf Club in Kitante, the 2025 edition promises fierce competition and a UGX 20 million professional cash prize, thanks to Absa’s continued commitment to sports development in Uganda.

The Captain’s Bell Tournament, an annual tradition, marks the ceremonial welcome of a new Club Captain and is a key event in Uganda’s golfing calendar.

This year, the tournament not only symbolizes leadership but also celebrates community, camaraderie, and excellence in sport.

Speaking on behalf of Absa Uganda, Chief Finance Officer Michael Segwaya highlighted the bank’s dedication to using sport as a unifying force

“Golf has a special way of bringing people together. At Absa, we believe in sport’s power to inspire and uplift.” Ssegwaya noted

Uganda Golf Club Captain, Paul Charles Rukundo, praised the long-standing partnership with Absa, noting the bank’s support has opened international doors for Ugandan golfers and ensured the tournament’s enduring success.

“Absa’s support is more than sponsorship – it’s a true partnership for development,” he said.

Beyond the tournament, Absa Bank Uganda has played a vital role in nurturing golf talent over the past seven years, supporting players in international contests like the Magical Kenya Open and the European Golf Tour.
