Normally, a 5-0 win by SC Villa in Wankulukuku would be followed by celebration, however this wasn’t the case on Friday.

The mood was sombre at Full Time across all corners despite Villa’s result against UPDF after News of the passing of Peter Kabugo, the second assistant referee on the day which surpassed all other occurrences.

The deceased, Peter Kabugo

Kabugo lost consciousness from an asthma attack in the 73rd minute of the game and an ambulance had to drive through the pitch to pick him up from a spot where he had made countless sprints in the past hour.

The now deceased, Peter Kabugo ( extreme left of SC Villa Captain Ronald Ssekiganda) before the game.

He unfortunately didn’t make to the hospital and died along the way.

A content creator, radio presenter, music and entertainment analyst, that’s how the 27year old FUFA referee defined himself across his different social Media platforms.

It’s hard to tell which one he was more passionate about but his love for journalism was as strong as that for soccer.

Through his YouTube channel infomedia UG, Kabugo occasionally shared views on different trending topics, from politics to sport and music.

“Kaliisa nkulaba boyi, I love doing this.” Kabugo captioned a clip from the NEC Vs Vipers game in which he was also an assistant referee.

This tragedy has however cut short his promising officiating career that he started from Kagadi where he also used to work as a shop attendant.
