2024 Paris Olympics: Medal millions for team Uganda

The Uganda Olympics team in Paris has received a huge boost following the assurance of a monetary reward to all medalists at the 2024 summer Olympics going on in France.

The announcement made by Uganda State minister for sport Hon Peter Ogwang during his visit to the team’s Camp in the Olympics Village meant a double of what gold medalists at the previous edition went home with as a token of appreciation from the government .

This year’s gold will comes along with 100million Ugandan Shilling, twice the 50million bagged by Joshua Cheptegei and Peruth Chemutai from their gold in the men’s 5,000m and women’s 3,000m respectively.

Cheptegei earned an extra 30million for his silver in the 10,000m, the same medal will now be rewarded with 50million shillings. Jacob Kiplimo recived 20million for his 10,000m bronze medal which has been increased to 30million.

All athletes who took part in both the Olympics and Paralympics received 1million shilling for representing the Uganda flag. With all the above mentioned winners part of the team in the French Capital, the motivation comes right on time.
