The 2024 Buganda Masaza Cup rounded off the first round in style with four 1-0 edge victories and five barren draws at different grounds.

Despite a appointing a new coach a few weeks back, Five time record champions Gomba Ssaza continued their bad start in this campaign.

And this time round, they fell 0-1 to Sharafah Mukiibi’s strike to give Buweekula an edge at their Kabulasoke PTC in a game that saw Police disperse the crowds with tear gas.

In the end, Amour Munogera of Buweekula was named man of the match.

At the Kitovu Arena, hosts Buddu edged defending champions Bulemeezi 0-1 in Masaka city thanks to a goal by captain Pius Ssebulime who was also named the man of the match.

For Bugerere, they were ambushed by visiting Buluuli who beat them 0-1 through a Robert Ssewanyana strike in a game where Jacob Opar was named man of the match.

In Mukono, Kooki had an impressive performance but fell short to hosts Kyaggwe who got their goal through Ivan Bravo Kalyowa.

Goalkeeper Elton Mwidu of Kyaggwe was named man of the match after a couple of saves in the game.

Busiro’s Lawrence Ssembatya was namedman of the match as Busiro and Island natives of Ssese played out a non-scoring draw at the Ssentema playground.

Just like Busiro and Ssese, Mawogola and visiting Ssingo shared the spoils at the Mawogola playground with Collins Ocatre was named man of the match.

This Ssingo maintain their unbeaten record in their Muganzirwazza group that includes Mawogola, Kyaggwe, Gomba, Kooki and Buweekula.

Busujju and Mawokota also played to a goalless draw at the Kimuli playground, Eddie Bulwanyi clinching the man of the match accolade.

On Saturday Saturday, 27th July 2024, Buvuma and Kabula just like Butambala and visiting Kyadondo played out 0-0 draws in their respective games.

Augustine Olowo of Buvuma being the man of the match with an exceptional performance in the game against Kabula.

The tournament will have a week-long break and match day six returns on the weekend of 10th and 11th August 2024.
