Uganda Women’s national netball team, the She Cranes humbled past Singapore with a 42 goal margin in their opening game of the 2023 Netball World Cup at the Convention Centre in Cape Town.
The She Cranes beat Singapore 79-37 with KCCA’s Goal -Keeper and Goal-Shooter, Haniisha Muhammeed who was on fire as she put up 31 goals on the day in front of Mary Nuba(17) and Christine Namulumba (13)
Despite head coach Fred Mugerwa who making a number of rotations, put off the excellent Hannisha and Nassanga and brought on more quality that included team Captain Irene Eyaru who came in after half time and scored 7 to boast the scoreline.
With a sleek attack that produced a huge margin you get a feel the She Cranes had a solid defense line of Stella Nanfuka and Christine Nakiito who had a good interception rate.
However Margaret Baagala, who played in different positions in the game was named player of the match having produced an outstanding performance.
A win against Singapore will give the Ladies great boast as they eye a contest with the defending Champions of New Zealand on Saturday morning.
