Uganda Cricket head coach Ivan Thawithemwira has summoned 26 players to start preparations for the 2022 U19 World Cup qualifiers that are set to take place in Rwanda (instead of Nigeria as earlier announced) due to COVID-19 pandemic.

According to the team management, the players’ selection has been across the country and will start preparations as soon as they undertake their Covid-19 tests.

The team had started preparations before sports was halted due to high rising Covid cases in the country. However, following the last presidential speech, the sports was given green light to resume and thus the team is expected to return to training on Wednesday. All the summoned players will undergo mandatory Covid tests before they join the camp.

Before the team flys out for the qualifiers in Kigali, the squad will be trimmed to 18 players. The qualifiers will be held from September 28th to 7th October in Kigali, Rwanda
